A song for the ceremony

So far, we have one song that's a "for sure" and it's Ave Maria (the classical piece, not the religious piece.) This is the best video I could find of this song. I like the slower tempo of the piano. A lot of pianists choose to play it a bit faster but I think that it feels kind of rushed. Unfortunately, the flutist isn't the best in this recording. It doesn't flow very well and is kind of choppy. You get the idea, though.  Ave Maria (flute and piano)

Wedding Guide: Be The Perfect Personal Attendant!

Wedding Guide: Be The Perfect Personal Attendant!

I have a personal attendant and neither of us really knew what that entailed. There are different sights but I found this to be a good one for ideas. Every bride and her needs are different so this is just an outline.

Reading - "The Art of Marriage" by Wilferd A. Peterson

There are two versions of this poem. This is the shorter version and the one that is most often read during a ceremony.

A good marriage must be created. In the art of marriage, the little things are big things…

It is never being too old to hold hands.

It is remembering to say "I love you" at least once a day.

It is never going to sleep angry.

It is never taking the other for granted; the courtship should not end with the honeymoon,
it should continue through all the years.

It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives.

It is standing together facing the world.

It is forming a circle of love that gathers in the whole family.

It is doing things for each other, not in the attitude of duty or sacrifice, but in the spirit of joy.

It is speaking words of appreciation and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.

It is not looking for perfection in each other.

It is cultivating flexibility, patience, understanding and a sense of humor.

It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.

It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow.

It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.

It is establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal, dependence is mutual and the obligation is reciprocal.

It is not only marrying the right partner,

It is being the right partner.

Ceremony Songs

Wherein the deep night sky
The stars lie in its embrace
The courtyard still in its sleep
And peace comes over your face.

"Come to me," it sings
"Hear the pulse of the land
The ocean's rhythms pull
To hold your heart in its hand."

And when the wind draws strong
Across the cypress trees
The nightbirds cease their songs
So gathers memories.

Last night you spoke of a dream
Where forests stretched to the east
And each bird sang its song
A unicorn joined in a feast

And in a corner stood
A pomegranate tree
With wild flowers there
No mortal eye could see

Yet still some mystery befalls
Sure as the cock crows at morn
The world in stillness keeps
The secret of babes to be born

I heard an old voice say
"Don't go far from the land
The seasons have their way
No mortal can understand."
